Connecting education, research and clinical practice

The new Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark connects the existing campus, originally designed by KHR Architecture more than 50 years ago, with the new university hospital, Nyt OUH. In doing so, the project continues and develops the campus’ architectural language, creating a clear and coherent framework across old and new.

The building brings students, researchers, and clinicians closer together, leveraging the synergies of working across education, research, and clinical practice. Study areas, laboratories, and shared spaces are organised to support both focused work and everyday interaction, making collaboration a natural part of daily use.

By spanning the landscape and the small watercourse, Killerup Rende, the architecture allows people and nature to move across the site, while opening the building towards its surroundings. Daylight and views create a calm and welcoming environment that supports both concentration and collaboration. Read more at khr.dk
