The Project
To strengthen its role as a key international hub, GRU Airport in São Paulo launched a major modernization and capacity expansion project. At the core of our consultancy services was the concept design of Terminal 3 (T3), a 192,000 m² facility designed to handle an initial capacity of 20 million passengers annually, bringing the airport’s total capacity to 60 million passengers. The design focused on optimizing passenger flow efficiency, ensuring smooth transitions between airside and landside operations, and achieving structural and functional integration with Terminals 1 and 2. Strategic planning of commercial spaces was key to maximizing non-aeronautical revenue, while sustainability and resilience were incorporated to ensure long-term adaptability. Despite a tight schedule to be ready for the 2014 World Cup, Terminal 3 was successfully inaugurated in May 2014.
